BRAUD is taking a little piece of home to Kyoto.

For anyone who has ever spent a lazy morning savoring artisanal pastries in Bali or Jakarta, the name BRAUD evokes an instant sensory memory of buttery layers and rich, comforting aromas. Now, that distinct culinary spirit has officially crossed international borders.

On October 9, 2026, the brand unveiled its very first global outpost: BRAUD Pocket Kyoto, located in the bustling, culturally rich heart of Kawaramachi, Japan.

A New Chapter in a Compact Format

While the brand has steadily built a devoted following across Bali and Jakarta through its community-centric cafes and bakeries, the Kyoto launch introduces an entirely fresh concept. Dubbed BRAUD Pocket, the venue is intentionally small in scale but brimming with the same uncompromising character. Designed to weave seamlessly into everyday local routines, this Japanese outpost serves as a cozy intersection where Indonesian artisan baking meets Kyoto's historic neighborhood rhythm.

The Focaccia Lineup: From Savory Sandwiches to Sweet Toppings

At the heart of the Kyoto menu is a celebration of texture, anchored by inventive focaccia creations split into two distinct categories.

Focaccia Sandwiches

  • Vegan Focaccia: Layered with fragrant pesto, roasted eggplant, zucchini, and seasoned tomato.

  • Beef & Pickle: Piled with savory beef pastrami, melted Emmental, mozzarella, gherkin, and peppery rocket.

  • Cheese & Cold Cuts: A harmonious pairing of chicken ham, fresh burrata, honey mustard, a drizzle of honey, and rocket.

Focaccia with Toppings

For a simpler approach that lets the foundational bake take center stage, options range from Blueberry & Strawberry finished with the signature OG glaze, to savory variations like Tomato & Red Onion with oregano oil, and classic Rosemary & Sea Salt.

East Meets West: The Matcha Passport Collaboration

The culinary vision goes beyond the oven. While BRAUD takes total command of the food program, the beverage bar is placed in expert hands: Tokyo-based Matcha Passport. Bringing its unique perspective on Japanese green tea and craft matcha, the collaboration infuses the drink menu with a distinct local nuance, balancing the robust, savory profile of the bakery items.

The Details

From its humble beginnings as a small home bakery in Bali to a thriving transnational community, BRAUD’s leap to Kyoto proves that good food speaks a universal language. Whether you are a traveler from Southeast Asia seeking a familiar taste of home or a resident exploring the lively alleys of Kawaramachi, a warm corner of Bali now awaits in Japan.
